Bonnie S. (Leonhardt) Brizendine went to be with our Lord Wednesday December 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Bonnie was born on September 11,1932 in Cass County Texas to RB & Hazel Lamar Smith. She has an older sister Annette Blackman, and younger sister Dorothy "Dot" Jones. She grew up in the woods on the Sulphur River hunting with her grandpa. She moved to Texas City when she was 20 to work at Henkie & Pillot as a grocery checker and lived with her Aunt Lola & Uncle Ralph Barrington. She then went to work at Weingartens (6th Street & 9th Ave) as head cashier. She married Leroy E. Leonhardt in the early 50’s and had 4 children whom she raised in Texas City.
She was active in the PTA and instrumental in bringing the Head Start program to Texas City. She saw all 4 of her children graduate from TCHS. On February 15,1985, she married Stewart Brizendine, who she was introduced through her daughter Faye at a wedding in Winnie, TX. She worked as Food Service Manager for Texas City Independence School District, her final position at Northside cafeteria. She loved all the kids that came through her line and made sure they weren’t hungry. She retired in June 1997.
She enjoyed crocheting names & doilies and cooking. She and Stewart traveled to Bertram Texas and Bloomburg Texas when they could to visit family and friends.

My heart goes out to the family during this time of loss.
When you lose someone you love, you gain an angel you know.
Bonnie will be sorely missed, but know that heaven has a very special angel. I shall miss her smile, her stories, her cooking but will take comfort that she is at peace.
Always loved and will forever remain in our hearts.
